Minister of Health visits Sudbury clinic

The Ontario Minister of Health and Long Term Care, Deb Matthews, paid a visit to the City of Lakes Family Health Team on June 23rd.


The Minister toured the Sudbury Clinic and then engaged the team in an open dialogue about the role of family health teams in Ontario.


Team members from the Val Caron and Walden Clinics also participated in the discussion through the Ontario Telemedicine Network.


The Minister appeared delighted to hear about the progress of the team, including: the recruitment of NOSM physicians; the thousands of orphan patients that have been rostered through Ontario Health Care Connect; the commitment of the physicians to take hospital privileges; the ehealth capacity of the clinics; and the positive impact that the team of interdisciplinary health care providers are having on patient care.
