The founder and long-standing Board of Directors’ Chairperson, Dr. Chris McKibbon, was honoured at the Grand Opening of the Chelmsford Clinic.
The conference and education room was named after him as a tribute to his leadership and extraordinary contribution to the development of the City of Lakes Family Health Team.
In 2005, Dr. McKibbon took the initiative to submit a funding application to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-term Care as part of the first wave of Family Health Team applications. He recruited the main partners, including the City of Greater Sudbury,
Health Sciences North and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine as well as the lead physician Dr. Tom Crichton. His compelling vision for a four-site network of family health team clinics throughout the City of Greater Sudbury was realized with the opening of the Chelmsford clinic.
